We traveled to St. Augustine, FL during the summer of 2010. St. Augustine was founded in 1565 by Pedro Menendez de Aviles, who was a Spanish explorer. St Augustine is the oldest town in the United States. For more information, click here.
The Oldest Jail
The Oldest House........The Oldest School.......... The 1st Lighthouse in Florida
The Alligator Farm near St. Augustine Beach: Scott rubbed a snake during a demonstration.
St. George Street............The Waterfront
St Augustine has many historic places and things to see, like the original city gate, (a brick, wall structure,) the first pharmacy, museums, and other sites. The Spanish influence can be seen in the architecture as well as the street names. St Augustine has modernized to a degree throughout the years, but you can still enjoy stone streets, narrow drives, and the waterfront.
